Queueing time out

Hello.

I have to look using Patrol (from BMC) to a computer and its Oracle 8.04 database (a big one).
Patrol indicates many queueing time out when the activity is important on my multiprocessor computer (Solrais 2.5).

I am not a database administrator but I really want to know !!! And the DBA I query keep answering things like 'What do you speak about ?'.

Can someone give me either clues or pointers to manuals ?
