there's a white paper on this over at the universal thread - check out www.universalthread.com for more details. it's for vfp, but you should be able to convert the syntax to vb. I think it was originally converted to vfp from the win32api programmer's reference guide for vb programmers, so if you get really stuck you can look at that book as well.
