Logging on to Personal Oracle through sql*plus?

I bought the 30 day trial of Personal Oracle release 8 something. The cd came in a jewel case and that was it. I installed it and ran sql*plus and it asked me for a user name and a password. I did find out about the Scott account and the password, but what about the other accounts like demo, sys, system ...? Using the oracle navigator, I created another user account with all the privileges, but I can't get to the tables to do a query. I understand when I long on as Scott I can't see Demo's tables, but why can't I see the tables when I log on to a sys account?
Thanks
