Oracle Client on Win98

I have installed the Oracle 8.0.4 client on Windows 98.  When I try to test
the connection to my database using Net8 Assistant, I receive a message
saying 'JAVA caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at
0000:00000009'.  All of this works fine on Windows 95.



I have checked MS Technet etc and have found no clues.



Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.
