Oracle Return Codes

HELP!!! We have a "unique" situation. We are running Oracle 7.3.3, with the appropriate version of sqlnet. It is running on NT4.0 with service pack 4. We are trying to process a multitude of SQL updates in an asp (approximately 2000+ lines). We are encountering the usual "MDAC" problem, and if a SQL fails (specifically, tables being altered on the fly by another user), the return code does not return to the web server for display. I've gone through my Oracle 7 server book, and scanned through the dynamic performance tables (V$) - I noticed that everything else is being stored there - SQL statements, etc, and I can compute the efficiency with "explain plan"-I was wondering if oracle stores the return code in either a dynamic performance table or dba table? Or could you point me in the right direction?!! I realize that this will be straightened out (Microsoft alleges) with 8.0, but that is many months down the road. We can't update to 7.3.4, so we can't go to level 3 ODBC drivers

Thanks in advance!
please respond to me at mankney_at_juno.com if at all possible
