A "BLOB" is an internal datatype, whose value is composed of unstructured binary data.
A "BLOB" can be up to 4 gigabytes in size. Only the "BLOB" locator is stored in the table column. Data can be stored in separate tablespaces. They are available since Oracle8 I think.
