how to write a Autonomous Transactions proc with PL/SQL 8.0.5

thanks for read this.

i have some functions and procedures written by PL/SQL 8.0.5, and i use some commit in them. but somebody tell me that will commit the caller 's transaction, is it right?

i read some book, find a pragma " Autonomous_Transaction" , but it only work in PL/SQL 8.1, so how to do this in PL/SQL 8.0.5 ?

any idea?
