Yeah, and if that doesn't work, check to make sure the restore finished, then keep trying. I think it's an NT related problem more than Oracle (I may be wrong). I have two IBM 325's that do that all the time. After rebooting a time or two and starting and stopping the instance, it catches.

If you are running multiple instances, shut the other(s) down and retry.

You can file this under the least technical advice you've ever gotten, but if I can't start it through SM, I take the Microsoft advice and "reboot"
