Copying a database

Hello,

I want to copy my database and create a new one for some special testing purposes. I'm not sure how to do it, I just have an idea and wanted to know if this was correct:

First I'd backup the control file to trace and change any and all references that pointed to the old database or old datafiles to the new ones. Then I'd do a simple OS copy of the datafiles and then log in SVRMGR and run the script to rebuild the new control file.

Is that about right? I feel that I am missing some steps......do I need to export?

Any help would be appreciated. Please send responses to e-mail.....

Thanks,

Arthur
