NT 4.0 offering near-linear scalability? I don't think so. May be NT 3000 will offer something like that, but I don't think that either NT 4.0 or NT 2000 will be able to do so. If you want near-linear scalability on an 8-way Compaq machine, my advice is to opt for Intel Solaris.
