oracle on linux: can't start svrmgrl

Hi all


i managed to install oracle 8.0.5  on redhat 5.2 with no problems. i 
didn't create a database during installation. when i tried to start the 
manager i got this error message:


Message 4505 not found; No message file for product=SVRMGR, 
facility=MGR.



any help is really appreciated.
