Oracle8 and VB

I have to write an app in VB with Oracle db. I would like to connect to oracle without using ODBC, immediatly through SQL*Net or Net8. Is OO4O the only way, or can I use DAO or RDO also ? If you can, could you point me where I can find more information about this ?

By the way, is Net8 the way to go ? I use Oracle8.0.5 for Linux and W98 clients.
