Hi,

I am an Oracle developer who is just starting to work on some projects using Java. If I was you I would learn both. The reason for knowing both is that not many companies are using Oracle8i, or Java yet. Consequently if you don't know PL/SQL you will find it hard to get a job. Java is going to be the way forward though and at the moment there are not many Oracle developers who know Java, consequently there are potentially lots of jobs. It may sound a bit daunting to learn both, but both languages are pretty easy to learn, especially PL/SQL.
I hope thats some help.

Oliver.
