relocating database

how easy is it (if at all possible) to relocate a database on a server. we want to have another copy of our database on the same server (with a new name). I thought about moving the datafiles and then recreating the control files with the new location, although this approach seems flawed the more I look into it.
any advice on this gratefully received (I`m a fairly new Oracle user) Received on Thu Mar 11 1999 - 06:17:49 CST
