Migration of MSaccess-DB to OracleDB, but Oracle-DB response time was longer?!?!?

Hi Expers!

I migrated a MSaccess 2,0 database to a Oracle 8.0.4 database. I connected via ODBC to both databases and determined the response time of SQL-commands (Select (joins, righter and left joins). insert, update, delete, ...). The response time of SQL-commands to the Oracle-DB were longer as the SQL-commands (Select) to the MSaccess DB. The used tables have between 400 and 50 000 rows.

Can anyone explain this effect or give me tips to remove the bottleeck.

Thanks,
