Oracle 8

I'm developing applications in VC++ 5 that use ODBC calls to Oracle8. What I want to know is... In case there is a network problem, after I have connected to the Oracle8 server, using a CDatabase object, will the ODBC driver re-connect to the server ? What will happen, if I am in the middle of a transaction & the oracle8 server goes down ? - Will I lose the changes I made, or will the ODBC driver restore the connection & continue the transaction as if nothing went wrong ?
