     Here's a quick and dirty way to accomplish what you desire:
          Buy a product called "Hotshot." You can find it on the 
          web or in any good software dealer.  It captures any         
 on-screen image quickly and easily.  It also stores the          
image, so that you can later restore.  It costs about          
$20.00!!  There may be programmatic ways to accomplish 
          what you want, but they will be specific solutions - Hotshot
          works with any type of screen image.  It lies resident       
   within Windows.
