We have ORACLE 7.3.2 server running in an AIX box, and clients (developer 2000, ProC, sqlplus etc) running in AIXs, IRIXs. They have been working well.
Recently, we installed the Linux 8.0.5 sqlplus in a Linux box, and configured tnsname.ora in ...../app/oracle/admin/. Actually, we just copied the tnsnames.ora file from the IRIX's to here, and tried sqlplus in the Linux box to ORACLE server in AIX. Here is what we got

in Linux

enter "sqlplus"

we got "SQL*Plus: Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production on Thu Feb 11 16:32:16 1999

             (c) Copyright 1998 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

             Enter user-name:
           "

enter "scott"

we got "ERROR:

            ORA-12224: TNS: no listener"

Any idea?
