Just to clarify,
is Feb 29, 2000 displayed as 29-Feb-0 ( since this does not match the format you listed) and, in the same display field, Jan 24, 2000 shown as 01/24/00 ( which does match the format)?

If so, set the format to some other ( like 'MON-DD-YYYY') widen the field and see what happens....

Just be sure the display field is wide enough to show all possible values of the date...
