Not me - I'm always following people around and telling them how hard my job is and all the problems I have which they have caused :-)

Actually I haven't worked with many DBA's - usually a one DBA shop - but the ones I have worked with were quite helpful. Only problem was they were usually pretty busy so didn't volunteer a lot but were always forthcoming when questions were asked.

I would look at the overall work environment before stereotyping one specialty - does it encourage communication, have clearly defined boundries so that people aren't paranoid about their turf, etc.

In my environment, I could conlude that the developers and users are insular and secretive - I have a very difficult time finding out what people are doing to MY databases due to a very fragmented work structure. Also being the only DBA it's a pleasure to find someone who is interested in what I'm doing (without having a complaint).

Maybe that's why this response is so long...
