Oracle vs MySQL in regards to what?
What are you trying to accomplish with a database...

I probably wouldn't use MYSQL for a mission critical or high profile application. For playing around, sure why not... Do you need PL/SQL? What about recoverability? What about scaleabilty???

In general, my opinion is that you get what you pay for.
