Yes, Oracle uses datafiles which have the extention .dbf These datafiles make up the tablespace which utimately make up the database as a whole. I am not really sure how you would recover the datafile, but I would imagine that you would be able to use an ALTER DATABASE on it to restore it. Like I said though, I have never had to restore one of them before.
