Transparent Gateway Question

My company is beginning to look at alternative ways of accessing data on the mainframe. One option is the Gateway products. We are looking specifically at the CICS Access Manager for one direction and the EDA/SQL Gateway for the other. Does anybody have experience or opinions they would like to share?
