Indexes and Maxextents

Question: If I reach the MAXEXTENTS limit on one of my indexes, will the data

          in my table still get loaded?

If so:     Will the index continue to get built after I free the index from
           it's error, OR will my index need to get totally rebuilt??

Very interested in the answer to that one.
