Hi

We have Oracle 7.3.4, HP-UX 11.0 on a HP 9000 T520. We take offline backups every night (archived to tape) and run in archive log mode. As part of our planning for a disaster we are hoping to have access to a backup server in a different part of the country. This backup server is NCR 4300 running NCR UNIX. Is it possible to recover from tapes made on our HP machine on the NCR machine. If not, how can we make use of this backup server? Is it only useful if it is an HP machine with the same or similar OS?

How about using replication of the Oracle database? Does this require the same OS? Could we replicate between the HP and NCR machines each night, thus keeping the NCR machine more or less up to date? Could we even replicate between HP 9000 and an NT box?

Lots of questions, I know. Thanks in advance for any advice.
