Rochester, New York

Job Objective:
Establish and maintain integrity of Oracle databases through the administration of database security, development, tuning and monitoring procedures. Provide database support for various divisional and Corporate functional areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of divisional database structures. Coordinate data modeling activities and translate technology strategies into effective and efficient database structures. Provide technical support for backup and recovery procedures for the databases. Administer database access and security. Establish and maintain procedures for monitoring performance tuning of databases and systems. Develop, maintain, and promote database administration policies and procedures. Support application development efforts to ensure maximum efficiency. Lead the evaluation and selection of database development, monitoring, and support tools. Install and maintain all software directly related to databases, database development tools, and database monitoring and tuning. Communicate effectively with management personnel regarding the status of all assigned activities. Inform management personnel in a timely manner of any problems which may result in a delay in project schedules so that appropriate action may be taken.

Qualifications:
BS degree (or equivalent) in business, computer science, or related technical field. Six or more years of systems development/data processing experience required. Minimum of 3 years database analysis, data modeling experience, and database administration experience in a commercial database environment required. Strong communication skills and the ability to learn new technologies. Ability to present status/issues to senior management. Background in RDBMS technology and client/server implementation and development techniques and tools, specifically Oracle, UNIX, PeopleSoft, Powerbuilder, CASE Tools and diagramming methodologies, and network operation systems preferred.
