Migrating Oracle Applications Data to another instance

I've been asked to determine how to migrate data from one instance of Oracle
Financial Applications on NT 4.0 to a second instance on the same machine.
Most of us will think of Export and Import; however, Oracle embeds information
concerning the instance in the Oracle Applications tables. Importing this
information into a second instance reeks havoc with the instance (which is the reason Oracle says not to try it).

If anyone has experience with this, please reply by email. I'll post a summary.
