how: number of users on tablespace

I am migrating my visual basic 4.0-application from access to oracle.

Now I need a solution, to limit the number of application users in network.

Perhaps they all use the same connect name via odbc.

can i ask oracle, how many users "x" there are connected with oracle ?

Or any solution ?

What is the normal way to control the number of users in a network application ?
