Hi Jack,
Sorry, but that doesn't do jack (hehe ... sorry, couldn't help it) about the transaction mode. Oracle ALWAYS work in transaction mode, but using specific tools you have ways of bypassing some of it (redo log files). Even without archive Oracle uses Redo logs.

The UNRECOVER option on CREATE INDEX and in SQL Loader bypasses redo log generation. Use it with care, as you'll lose the data on recovery - but that's what the question was about ... he didn't care about recovery. And sometimes you don't :)

P.S. Sorry it is meant as no offence to you ... just trying to get myself going here on an early Thursday morning ....
