Newbie: Paging records in webserver

I'm trying to do web reports on quite large databases and am having 
trouble with the time it takes to show data. Is there a way to show say 
the first 50 entries and then page through the rest when needed. 
hopefully this will reduce the amount of time for the individual pages to 
be displayed.
