Oracle reported its fourth quarter and year end earnings, beating
analysts expectations. Oracle is now a $7.1 billion dollar company, up
26% from FY 1997.

Oracle released a new version of its database-sizing tool for
configuring databases, Oracle System Sizer 3.0. It's available for
download now.
- ORACLE ANNOUNCES UPGRADED DEVELOPER SUITE AND LOTS OF NAME CHANGES
Oracle announced Enterprise Developer Suite Release 2.1 (formerly known
as Oracle Web Developer Suite), an upgrade of its suite of development
tools and servers for building applications, which includes its newly
renamed Designer/2000 and Developer/2000 tools.
- ORACLE SHIPS ORACLE VIDEO SERVER 3.0 (INCLUDES LINK TO PRODUCT REVIEW)
Oracle announced the availability of Oracle Video Server 3.0, software
that works with Oracle7 or Oracle8 for storing, managing, and delivering
high-quality full-screen video and CD-quality audio to the home and
desktop.
- MICROSOFT INTRODUCES VISUAL BASIC UPGRADE (INCLUDES LINK TO PRODUCT
REVIEW)
Microsoft unveiled an upgrade to Visual Basic, adding features for
easier data access and simpler application deployment.
- ARBOR ADDS SUPPORT FOR MULTIPLE DATABASES TO OLAP SERVER
Arbor Software Corp. has begun testing a version of its OLAP server that
works with data stored in relational database management systems,
including Oracle.
