As for the slow comment, there are a lot of variables. The more memory you have, the quicker Crystal runs. Crystal loads all records to memory (if memory fills, the Windows swap file starts getting written to) and then starts printing. I have found that 32 meg of memory is a minimum if you are dealing with very large record sets at all. I find the compiled reports to be quite fine as far as being user friendly. Once reports are compiled, Crystal will creat the necessary distribution disks to load to end users. At this point, users can install reports to Windows and have menus and/or folders to run reports from. It can be quite organized.

If you have programmed before, I would say that it would not be very much trouble, but if you haven't, it won't be that easy. Another option may be to get Crystal Info. It lets you share reports in an organized matter, and it will offload the reporting onto other machines (depending on how you set it up). Check out Seagate's website at http://www.seagatesoftware.com. I will be posting some API code on my website within the next month and maybe even a VB app to run reports. Check out http://www.crystal-reports.com.
Hope this helps.
