Currently, this is the way we do things as well. We have two Oracle instances on separate machines that we are running Oracle Names on for redundancy. However, the question was asked "we aren't we putting this on the same machines as the DNS? They basically require the same uptime so why not put them together?"

Actually, I think that we gather the SQL*Net connection information from flatfiles generated by the Oracle Network Manager. In this way, the database does not have to be up for client requests to be served and the clients can connect to other instances. So I'm guessing that we don't need to have SQL*Net... Of course, Oracle Names may not install separately.

Regardless, testing starts Monday. :)
