Michael,

I have recently completed a legacy dataload into Oracle Projects and Fixed Assets Version 10.7 Prod 16.1F

The data load was split into two parts:

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

As there is no open interface to load the WBS into Oracle Projects, I used an Excel macro to enter the data via the GUI screens. The data was extracted from the legacy application, and formatted into the spreadsheet. The excel macro was a generic utility written by one of my colleagues. It is not quick, but is effective. It was quite time consuming mapping out the keystrokes required to enter the project/task/sub-task structure.

Transactions

The open interface utility transaction import was used to load the financial information into the database. The utility is well documented and does the job. It did take me a while to get the right figures in the right places in the capital projects screen. I think that you will be able to use this to load your time and material costs - I guess it depends on how you have setup and are using Projects though.

I hope this information is of use and let me know if you need any additional help

Steve Richardson.
