Which Database to Use ?

Hi
I am doing a Research/Analysis on the Databases to use for my future project.
The Project details are we have a IBM RS/6000 System with AIX 4.2 Operating System
on which we need a Database to store our messages(~ 300 bytes each), the messages
are ascii text. There is a lot of information regarding the message format etc.. ,
but I do not want to make it more complex. For right know we are considering DB/2 and Oracle. So please forward your suggestions
for the selection of Database to akotha_at_hotmail.com 'or' to this email itself.
