Hello,

I have a problem with my Oracle 8 dbs. It concernes the (national) charsets, and hope somebody can help.

I have an Oracle 8.0.4.0 server on one side, and a client software 7.3 on an other computer, (both on NT4). The raison why I use the client 7 is that I use a Delphi program to import data from an Access dbs to Oracle, and the ODBC-8 does not run for this.

The problem is that the german characters (ö,ü,ä,ß : I hope you see them like I write them :-) ), are corrupted. Of course I use the ODBC to access to database, and I tried the translatores (without too). My question is, what is the normal way to configure the dbs, the client software (Easy blabla..), and the ODBC, to support german charsets ? On the dbs, I have the WE8ISO8859-1 charset, which should normaly be correct. But what is with the rest ? The SQL-Plus does work correclty too. If I insert such chars, and select them after, they come out correctly. Another information is, that I already imported successfully data into a 8.0.3 dbs server, which now is to a internet provider. But I'm just about getting some config info of this computer, that I have not installed myself. (never do what you can make done by someone else :-)) !!). I hope this information is sufficient. Please ask me more, if not.

thanks for any help,
regards, Received on Wed May 06 1998 - 11:13:35 CDT
