We are running Oracle 8.04 on an server running NT 4.0 /w service pak 3 installed. We are experiencing a problem where the DB instance shuts down on its own and there do not seem to be any messages in any of the log. We've checked the NT event logs and there do not seem to be any related events there.

Oracle asked us to re-install which we did, however we experienced another shutdown.

When you check the database service in NT the service is no longer started. All we have to do to bring the DB up is restart the service.

I'm hoping that someone might have some ideas, so far Oracle and Microsoft have not had a lot of suggestions.
