CONFERENCE UPDATE: ODTUG is the first international users group to offer its attendees both hardcopy and CD-ROM versions of conference proceedings! At no extra fee!!!

ODTUG is also presenting a full set of presentations on data warehousing and Discoverer at its Spring 98 Conference in Palm Springs, California. Data warehouse or data mart? Which do you prefer? Both will be discussed in Palm Springs. Data warehousing presentations cover the field from soup to nuts. Early phases are discussed starting with buzzwords to architecture myths and then moving onto the methodology and architecture used in a case study. Operating data warehouses focuses on real-life examples: evaluating the Oracle Application Data Warehouse plus planning and managing multi-terabyte Oracle data warehouses. Capitalizing on data warehouses by data mining is also discussed. For those inclined to a data mart view of things, data marts using Oracle 8 and a case study based on Oracle's Data Mart Suite will also be presented.

Discoverer is covered in detail from creating the end user layer (definitely a critical step) through using Discoverer to view your Designer/2000 repository, incorporate maps into your presentation, or use summary tables to speed response times. A separate presentation handles its administration so you can get all the nitty-gritty details. Thin-client fans can attend the Discoverer on the Web presentation. Discoverer 3.1, the newest release, is discussed as well as directions for future versions.

Real Oracle 8 data warehouses and finding data in them will be discussed in Palm Springs. If you want to be a part of it, visit ODTUG's Web site at http://www.odtug.com for registration, session descriptions, weekly updates, and more! The Web site is also accepting questions for the expert and Oracle panels; submit your questions now for answers from the experts!
ODTUG's Spring 98 Conference will be held from June 2-5, 1998 at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Palm Springs, California. Early registration discounts end May 1st so register TODAY! (Member fee: $695 before May 1st or $750 afterwards. Non-member fee: $795 before May 1st or $850 afterwards.)
