Oracle's "Java Day"

Oracle hosted a "Java Day" at company headquarters yesterday to discuss their plans for Java. Among the highlights:

• Oracle is ditching Hat Trick, it's Java application suite, to re-sell Lotus eSuite instead.
• Oracle will re-sell its Aurora Java virtual machine (JVM) it is putitng into Oracle 8.1 and Oracle Application Server.

CEO Larry Ellison made it clear that Oracle is not competing with Sun Microsystems. He stated, "We're filling in the things Java can't do. It doesn't do databases. It doesn't do networks. It doesn't do fault tolerance."
