Export/Import issues using 7.3 and 8

Hello,

We have 2 Oracle databases - versions 7 and 8. From the client machine (I have Oracle utilities 7.3 and 8 installed), I would like to be able to do database exports. Since I need to move data between 2 database servers fairly frequently, I would like to use the version 7 export/import on both servers (I guess, version 8 is not backward compatible).

When I try to do the export from the 8 server, using the 7.3 EXP utility (EXP73 from WinNT prompt), I get the following message:

EXP-00008: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
EXP-00024: Export views not installed, please notify your DBA
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

The server DOES have the export views, it is just that they were created using CATEXP version 8.

How can I move data between 2 servers without any hassles? Thank you in advance.
