Mel,

Oracle licenses its database servers several ways: named user, concurrent device, network license, etc. But simply putting a 'traffic cop' such as a TP monitor or a connection multiplexer doesn't change your licensing needs. If there are 500 users on the other side of the MS Index Server, you're not going to get away with saying 'Hey, we only have one user: the Index Server'

I'm sure that your Oracle sales rep will tell you the same thing.
