Wow, thanks for all the info. That was rather interesting :)

        Still, as to the question of "Why no Oracle on Linux?", I think its probably been answered pretty well, and I don't think its really a Linux issue. Given some of the OTHER machines its been ported to, I suspect that complaining about Linux isn't really the issue (tho taking into account the things you said about hardware).

        However, why Oracle? I'm not really a transaction-oriented-database person (Deductive Databases are cool :), but WHY Oracle? Someone said that it's marketing was better than its product... How about other ones?

        I do have ONE problem here though:

I suspect that not everyone who uses Oracle is in this postion. However, perhaps if they are not, then they shouldn't use Oracle :)
