Oracle8 books vs. Oracle7 books - backwards compatible?

I'm just getting into Oracle (7.3) and was curious if it was OK to purchase the Oracle8 books (Oracle: A Beginner's Guide, Oracle Architecture, Oracle PL/SQL Programming); we're not upgrading to Oracle8 any time soon, but I'd rather purchase the newer books if the content was mostly the same, with extensions for the new Oracle8 material. Would this be a mistake? Should I purchase the Oracle 7.3 books instead? Thanks.
