different dblinks to same database

I'm wondering if it is possible to have two database links with a different connection to a given database, since the manual states that the link-, service- and global-database-name should be the same.

I had a link with a name that was different from the service name, but a synonym for it could not be used in a stored procedure.

Any ideas?
