problems with SYSTEM logon

I have created a new database and just run pupbld.sql under the user SYSTEM. Logged in a SYSTEM, I can no longer select from DBA_ views/tables although I can still select from the V$ views/tables. Can anyone help ?

I am running ORACLE 7.1.6.2.0 on a UNIX SUN box. Received on Fri Nov 14 1997 - 00:00:00 CST
