Help with SQL!

Hi,

    I am having trouble on a sql query. I need to include two things in the Sql query.

1. I need to compare a variable in the table with a user inputted variable. I don't know how thw user can input at runtime.
2. I need a loop that executes until a condition arises. I don't know how to do this in Sql.

   I would really appreciate if anyone could help me. Thanks.
