How-to doc for PostgreSQL is at :- (5% pumped up to give it a marketing  punch!!)

PostgreSQL Home page is at:-
http://www.postgresql.org

PostgreSQL is the "Object-Relational database" for EACH and EVERY flavor of  UNIX.
It is the ONLY database in the whole world which will run on all flavors of UNIX and NT!!
It runs on Solaris, HPUX, AIX, digital unix, silicon graphics IRIX, Linux, SCO, BSD, old SunOS, etc.. etc...
It is getting closer every month to ANSI SQL92/SQL89 and implements many of the features of future ANSI SQL98 and beyond, which increasingly deals with Object databases, abstract data types, "DataBlades", other advanced features of SQL, etc..

Post your questions to - pgsql-questions_at_postgresql.org and read answers at Mailing list archive which is at - ftp://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/majordomo/pgsql-questions-digest/ DO NOT subscribe to mailing list as the traffic is very HUGE!! Some hundreds of e-mails every day!! Your inbox will be full. Instead read mail digest given above on web.
Also newsgroup for postgresql is coming up soon which will be at -

Chitchats--->
Customer: "How can I trust PostgreSQL ???" Answer : Regression test package is included with the distribution, and your

computer will check & validate millions of SQL in a very short time!! Customer: How about the Quality of Software?? Answer : Since PostgreSQL is developed with source code completely open,  millions

eyes are looking at it and the errors are weeded out extremely fast.
There is round-the-clock developement around the globe on all time
 zones
You get the HIGHEST quality ONLY in open system like PostgreSQL.
Customer: How may people are involved?
Answer : Millions of customers like you, great professors (who have PhDs in
computer science) from over TEN thousand universities in U.S.A,
entire internet community is making PostgreSQL a GRAND SUCCESS!
Customer: YES! I want PostgreSQL now!!
		**********************************

The MOTTO/goal -
"PostgreSQL a database developed by one billion database customers!!"

"PostgreSQL a database aiming at ZERO bugs & 100% free of defects!!"

"21st Century is a PostgreSQL revolution around the globe!!"

"Hey man! Appreciate the human brain which is networking 5 billion human brains for parallel processing!"

Think and ponder over this statement - "Best brains in USA are scattered all over the country and PostgreSQL is the only system which can use these brains by internet. Microsoft, oracle, sybase CANNOT because they all are closed system".

Call for experts in database field - show the source code of PostgreSQL to experts for their opinions and check out what they say.

There are two methods of software development -

  1. Closed System - For example, Microsoft, Oracle, Sybase, ....etc.
  2. Open system - PostgreSQL, Linux, ...etc.

As per science(physics), it is impossible to achieve 100% bug free system. In Closed system, it is impossible to achieve "near 100%" bug free system and development process takes HELL LOT of time to get there. In the Open system it is possible to achieve "very near" 100% bug free system in a minimum small time frame by networking a extremely large number of brains across the country.
Got the Idea??!

Microsoft is forcing customers to swallow windows95 SHIT, all the customers are vomitting everyday, customers do not like bad tasting windows 95!! what a shit, shit shit, shit man!! US Dept of justice is putting a one million dollar fine on Microsoft for forcing the computer manufacturers compaq, dell etc.. to include 'Internet Explorer' browser. You might have read this last week in Wall Street Journal.

Do you know Linux has windows 95 GUI interface and it is identical to Windows  95
You will not know the difference when you see linux!! Order Linux from http://www.lsl.com (redhat 4.2) $2+$5(ship) unlimited installs and distribution!!
Check also http://www.cheapbytes.com
PostgreSQL is on the Linux cdrom with binaries and source code

Now, you must fire Windows NT and Microsoft SQL server and hire  Linux+PostgreSQL or
run Solaris+PostgreSQL or HPUX+PostgreSQL etc.. but no microsoft.

Atleast in databases selection you have some freedom to select!! Microsoft cannot force database down your throat. With PostgreSQL you can use ODBC, JDBC to connect to powerbuilder, delphi, borland, motif on OS/2, unix, win95 etc...
Do you know ODBC, JDBC drivers are already available for PostgreSQL!!

Database must have a dedicated cpu/harddisk machine for performance on the LAN network. and linux+postgreSQL is the best!!

"Microsoft, Pen(internet) is mightier than sword(marketing), stop spending huge amounts on sword(advertisement)!!"

opinions are mine only and not anybody else. Received on Sat Oct 25 1997 - 00:00:00 CDT
