You are invited to join and participate in the "DBA Pipeline" - a free internet forum for Oracle Administrators sponsored by RevealNet. You can access the DBA Pipeline by pointing your web browser to http://www.revealnet.com/dbapipe/index.htm

The forum is hosted by popular Oracle author and speaker Mike Ault
('Oracle8 Administration and Management' John Wiley & Sons - coming soon).
Use the forum to share technical solutions, scripts and files. Download white papers from the "Archives". This month's addition - "How to Hire (or be hired as) an Oracle DBA".
This paper includes a 32 page DBA Proficiency Test!

OCTOBER'S TIP OF THE MONTH: Index Builds

When doing index builds be sure to do "select count(*) from ;" where
is the name of the table on which the index is being built. This will clear any dirty blocks associated with the table out of memory and ensure a consistent read.

Best wishes,
