AIX disk mirroring versus specifying separate physical disks

It is usual to mirror control files, redo logs by specifying the name of the mirrored files on a file system which maps to a separate physical disk. However, under AIX it is possible to automatically mirror a disk.

If AIX disk mirroring is used does this avoid the need for mirroring the files via the standard methods using ORACLE?

If you have practical experience of applying AIX disk mirroring to an ORACLE database please advise on advantages / drawbacks especially about the implications for recovery.

Please post to the newsgroup or Email me.
