i posted a while ago about an inherited db that i didn't have the passwords for; none of the solutions that i was given seemed to work, and the db wasn't a production one, so i decided to just wipe the entire machine (a sparc ultra/2) and start over from scratch. i reinstalled solaris 2.5.1, and then ran the standard oracle install. everything seemed to work right, but when i try to access the db from the command line, i get all sorts of errors:
$ /opt/oracle7/bin/sqlplus
Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found.
Error initializing SQL*Plus
$ /opt/oracle7/bin/svrmgrl
Oracle Server Manager Release 2.3.2.0.0 - Production

does anyone have any idea what these errors mean, and what i can
do to fix them? i don't want to try yet another resintall, and oracle
support has had me on hold for the last hour or so.
tia, sweth.
